Seek and you shall find Celestialstar
Blessed are those who are Female
Wisdom as part of a journey of 40 Moons
Chosen to come forth in Rain
Honored by those who follow a Leader
You notice at first glance A medium-sized silver and white tabby femme with mysterious hazel eyes
Find and you shall seek once more
Only a mockingbird can repeat the notes of its song
Celestialstar's short and soft pelt is very sleek, like smooth velvet. Her body is like a horse. The “saddle” part riding her back and up to her face like a mask is a bright silvery-gray tone, like the heavenly bodies for which she was named. This silver fades away to become pure white on her chest, belly, legs, and underside of the tail. Splatters of pitch spray over Celestialstar pelt and imprints on her forehead to become the tabby marking. On her spine there is a firm line of black that randomly intersperses with silver until the tip of her tail, which is all black with some fine white hairs. Celestialstar is a medium-sized cat and thus, her paws are small. Her long, slender legs that call the males and propel this female are attached to those lethal claw-holding paws and firm shoulders that are strong despite her slender shape. Her spine leads down to a willowy tail and up to a slender neck that possesses a pretty face.
Her face makes her look young for her age, but her eyes show wisdom beyond her years and those can’t even be described as a single, simple color. Celestialstar's eyes sit above her white muzzle and rimmed in black. They are a fine green color inlaid with silver and gold foil. However, they are also splattered with strange shimmers of grayish-green and bluish-green. These dark eyes hold secrets and have witnessed more things that anyone should have to bear.
We gather here today to witness
Lavapelt's, Woodthrush's, and Yellowwood's deaths profoundly changed Celestialstar, and she adopted many of her friend’s traits. One such trait was Woodthrush's concept of teamwork, which is most clearly seen in the way Celestialstar mentored Serpenthaze. Celestialstar also inherits Lavapelt's chronic tardiness, due primarily to losing track of time during her frequent visits to her memorial site for them, where her Clanmates were killed. Ironically, this very habit is one that Celestialpaw was often annoyed at Lavapaw about. Lavapaw was supposedly late to training due to always hanging out with the queens and elders.
Despite these changes, some of Celestialstar's previous personality remains. She is fairly dispassionate compared to apprentices and fellow warriors, almost never showing emotion. She often says things that sound harsh but mean well. While Celestialstar is willing to help others, she remains somewhat aloof and unwilling to let anyone get too close to her, noting that she no longer has anyone important to her except for the Clan.
Celestialstar's personal life appears to be as much of a mystery as the depths beyond her eyes. She has no living family, or at least none she cares to acknowledge, and she's confirmed that everyone she loves is already dead. She is immediately recognizable as the daughter of (or mistaken for) her father. It was rumored that Serpenthaze spent the entire day trying to determine the exact color of her eyes. She tells him they are green, only to have them shimmer blue and then gray as she turns away, suggesting that her eyes (or rather, their secrets), like much of the rest of her personality, is something she does not readily share.
Celestialstar has an ongoing, albeit slightly one-sided, rivalry with Serpenthaze, with Serpenthaze constantly proclaiming that Celestialstar is his rival and mentor (because he wants to be better than her one day), and considering his and Celestialstar's children or following apprentices rivals. Celestialstar, on the other hand, seems indifferent to their rivalry, which annoys Serpenhaze (comically) to no end. Serpenthaze randomly challenges Celestialstar to random contests of skill, and Serpenhaze has acquired a record of 99 losses and 100 wins in doing so. Given that the contests that make up this figure are so varied (ranging from making the biggest leaf pile to who can bring in the most kill), this is not much of an achievement on Serpenthaze's part. Nevertheless, Serpenthaze is proud of his “record“.
Here, by our ancestors, are no lies
Like her father, Mountaingale, Celestialstar is considered a genius cat, becoming an apprentice at four moons and a warrior at nine. A few years after these accomplishments, Celestialstar's father was disgraced by the Clan for abandoning a mission in favor of saving his comrades, which cost RainClan dearly. Deeply ashamed and ostracized even by those he had saved, her father committed suicide, leaving Celestialpaw to bear witness to the event. After her father's suicide, Celestialpaw began to adhere strictly to the rules of the Clan – in particular, her own vow dictating that the success of the Clan must come before the well being of one's Clanmates, causing her to become arrogant, humorless, and by-the-book.
At the age 9 moons, Celestialmoon achieved warrior status. As a reward for her accomplishment, she was assigned to lead a group on a mission to flush out a fox den. Shortly after the mission started, Celestialmoon's Clanmate, Lavapelt was trapped in the fox den. Celestialmoon's other Clanmates, Woodthrush and Yellowwood, immediately stated their intentions to save Lavapelt, but Celestialmoon said they had to focus on completing the mission, opting not to make the same mistake her father had. Though Celestialmoon believed that they had to complete their objective and they parted ways [Celestialmoon went to go kill a fox and the two others went to go safe Lavapelt], a little reflection on Yellowwood's words and Lavapelt's prior kindness eventually convinced her that her father had done the right thing in saving his Clanmates. This revelation prompted Celestialmoon to turn back to join Yellowwood and Woodthrush in the rescue effort, although she initially claims that she did not believe Yellowwood could survive on her own—a statement that is more or less supported by how her arrival coincided with saving her oblivious friend from a fox attack.
During their attempt to save Lavapelt, Woodthrush lost his life as a result of taking a fox attack for Celestialmoon. To protect Celestialmoon as well, Yellowwood managed to kill the fox. Soon after saving Lavapelt, another fox came and struck Celestialmoon. She would have been ripped apart beneath the claws had Lavapelt not pushed her out of the way, getting her body shredded. Celestialmoon avenged her friends by killing the foxes, bringing the Celestialstar of today into being.
Moons later, Celestialmoon grew up and matured as a successful warrior instead of a snobby one. During this time, she had an apprentice by the name of Serpentpaw, who became Serpenthaze. Because of her bravery, loyalty, and perseverance, Celestialmoon was deemed deputy of her Clan when she became Serpentpaw's mentor. Over time, she began to take care of her Clan's leader, Brinestar, who kept coming down with Greencough and chills at the most inopportune moments. Celestialmoon had to go to Clan meetings in Brinestar's stead. None of the other cats were surprised when, at the next meeting, Celestialmoon was now Celestialstar. She came home to a grieving Clan that buried Brinestar, but now honored Celestialstar as the new leader of RainClan.
I hath sinneth, I hath repenteth
Light glimmered faintly along the sheets of bluegrass in the distance. The wind was picking up, whistling along the serpentine air currents that wound through the snowy grass. It called. It sought her.
Celestialmoon had paused under the shade of Russian sage, glancing at the moonlit grass. The gales whipped up the snow and grass, pushing it aside as silver feline shapes came forward, meowing at her graciously. The silver-toned tabby bowed her head and came forward on delicate paws. "I came here in place of Brinestar. He has lost his last life," the she-cat said quietly, her long, white and silver tail curling around her paws as she paused again for her commands.
The other cats smiled hauntingly at her and turned, beckoning her with sibilant words she couldn't understand. Her hazel eyes twinkled in the light of the crescent moon above. Silverpelt shone brighter tonight, un-eclipsed by clouds of stringy grays and blues. The aurora was nowhere to be seen. Celestialmoon came forward into the canopy of tall grass that shook like cold kits.
When they finally arrived at the destination, Celestialmoon was told to wait by the obsidian spire poking an ox-length high out of the ice. The shiny black rock glittered like a rogue's hungry eye in the moon's caressing embrace of cool serenity.
The cats appeared again. They called. They sought her. So thus she entered the presence of StarClan. "Celestialmoon, step forward." She obeyed with a dip of her head as she entered the large icicle-laden cavern beyond the obsidian spire. Nine cats awaited her there. Mountaingale came forward with a smile.
"I give you the gift of strength, both inner and outer, to defend our home," her father said quietly, his blue-gray features lost in his silvery aura that accompanied all the StarClan cats. Celestialmoon accepted it with a smile, along with the others. Lavapelt. Woodthrush. Brinestar. Yellowwood. Cyclonepaw. Pinestar. Starlingstreak. Poisoncurse. Hauntedgaze. Ones who had died before and after the trip here. She accepted them all in calm, poised solemnity.
"Then we, as StarClan, do accept you into our ranks, Celestialstar," they said unanimously.
